Default Ed McMahon has passed away.

During World War II, Ed McMahon was a fighter pilot in the United States Marine Corps serving as a flight instructor and test pilot. He was a decorated pilot and was discharged in 1946, remaining in the reserves.

After college, McMahon returned to active duty. He was sent to Korea in February 1953. He flew unarmed O-1E Bird Dogs on 85 tactical air control and artillery spotting missions. He remained in the Marine Corps Reserve, retiring with the rank of Colonel in 1966 and was then commissioned as a Brigadier General in the California Air National Guard.

Several of his ancestors, including the Marquis d'Equilly, also had long and distinguished military careers. Patrice MacMahon, duc de Magenta was a Marshal of Armies in France, serving under Napoleon III.

Edward Leo Peter McMahon Jr.

1923 - 2009

Rest in Peace, Ed.

Thank you for your service!

Semper Fi!

Default Already miss Carson not him - so sad

Budweiser and the Johnny Carson show is about all I know of him. I know he was broke and struggling with some health issues. I do recall them saying he was in the Marines. Doc Holiday was also his band leader on the show wasn't he?

It's always a reminder that time moves on - constantly.

It was Doc Severinsen. Doc Holiday was a dentist/gunslinger in the Old West and a contemporary of Wyatt Earp.

A Good Man having Served Country Destinguishingly in 2 Wars (re. WWII & Korea) & longtime
liked & admired By Many,...it gets no better than that.

Plus, Ed gets to again say: "HE-E-E-E-ER-R'S-S Johnny" in a much better place.

Wonder if both will actually R.I.P.,...orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr just start clowning-around as did so
often & well for so long a time, here on earth?

I tend to believe the: "Clowning-around" scenario,...and without a care in The World to-boot.
Maybe while even having a drink or two? Not sure just what permitted Up There?

Neil

Neil,

Yeah, they'll have a good time while they're waiting for Don Rickles!
