Default 23 Handicap in Golf

23 + 72 = 95 average score.

I will shoot anywhere from 90 to 110 for 18 holes. I'm a hacker.

Default Average?

Keith,
Did you remember to subtract all the "gotchas," "inadvertent foot-wedgies," and "various environmental distractions," like birds singing, or flying, or squirrels racing up and down the fairways? Seems like a fair and balanced man like yourself ought to be able to subtract at least 10-12 strokes, which turns you into a purty good golfer, don't you say?
Anyhoo, I thoroughly enjoy the game, and remember, a bad day on the golf course beats the best day in combat by far!
Headin' to the driving range tomorrow, to sharpen my fleeting skills.

Scouts Out!!

Default I'm very legalistic. stick to the rules.

I feel guilty when I cheat so I don't.
If a partner offers me a mulligan or gives me a putt I'll take it but I'm pretty straight and honest. Why cheat? I'm still terrible.

Default Hey Keith,

I was invited by the good ol' superscout to participate in a "friendly" little golf scramble he was organizing with some other vets from his 'Nam unit. Let me tell you right now that those guys take their golf seriously ! I had a wonderful time, but don'y let that old Bird (SuperScout) fool ya. He can more than hold his own. If you get a chance to meet him, you'll find him a very nice and amicable gentleman and more than just a hacker. get him to fix you up a mess of his B-B-Q ribs. you won't be sorry !

Peace ya'll !

Talking I have played a lot of sports

Played basketball in college. Played a lot of baseball, softball, etc. Played football in the Army and High School. Played lots of table tennis and volley. But that golf game.

BUT . . . . . . . I just can't seem to get the consistency of playing good golf. I'll go par, par, birdie, Then all hell breaks loose and I start getting 8's and 10's per hole. Just not consistent is my big problem and I don't go out often enough to develop it. I have always putted well. Someday I say, I'll have the time to get consistent.

Default You Complainin'??

"... par, par, birdie..." Your out of my league, but I'd still like to follow you around, picking up some good pointers about how you do that!! Seriously, it is a wonderful game, a bit addictive, but not nearly as destructive as my former addictions.
And ol' sgt tropo had some kind words about our gathering and the resultant BBQ. We did in fact give thanks for the pig that died for our feast!!

Talking tee time ?!?!?

SuperScout and I live closer enough to set up a tee time, but I think Keith may have to leave a couple of hours earlier .

Talking You must understand on thing!

The 8's and 10's out number the pars and birdies 4 to 1. I stink!

Keith

P.S. I have been out with guys that play worse than me but end up with much lower scores. So I went out with one fellow and I told him we score each other this time. He had a bad day (105 ) he told me that was the first time he'd ever shot above 90 let alone 100. I thought to myself, the first time any scored you honestly. I hope you guys are an honest bunch.

Friday evening I was down in Oregon at my nephew's high school graduation. His father and I went out to the driving range for a long driving contest. The kid is 6'1" and a basketball and baseball player a good athlete. Those young whipper snappers can hit the ball a long way. He had few over the 300 yd marker. I had two that rolled to about 290 but most of mine were in the 220 to 250 range. Disgusting young kids!!!

The Hood River course is new and a pga approved course. It sure is beautiful. We didn't play but it scared me to death. High grass roughs and sand everywhere. I am going down and play it someday.

Don't fergit to eat yore Wheaties, first!! Sounds like a fund course. Had the pleasure of playing the course at McChord AFB several years ago, and remember the coarse grass in the rough. It had the complete ability to eat any and all strength if one was trying to go long; some of the locals 'splained it to me that going 90 degrees back to the fairway made the most sense.
