I don't know about the Cobra's but...
...I was with the 3rd Marines in "68" through "69" and that was our AO. Quang Tri north to the DMZ. Cam Lo C-1, 2, 3 and 4, Con Tian (sp?) The Rock Pile, Vandergrift, LZ Stud, Leatherneck Square, The Ashaw Valley, Dong Ha, Mudder's Ridge and the Razor Back to name a few.
In February of "69" we went south to Happy Valley and the Arizona Territory for operation Taylor Common then it was back to Dong Ha. I could tell you more, but then I'd have to kill ya! Semper Fi, Steve |

3rd Marines
Sea Soldier,
I didn't realize that you were in the 3rd Marines. I work with a guy that was in E/2/3 in '68-'69. He was around Hue, Phu Bai, Quang Tri, Dong Ha, and Khe Sahn. You may have known him. chilidog |

Chili,
I was with "Kilo" 3/3. but the Marine Corps being as small as it is may have crossed paths at sometime. We were sure in the same places!

SMALL WORLD
Sorry Carl, cannot help you out with info on the Cobras. I was with FLSG-B at Quang Tri and at Dong Ha 68/69.
SeaSoldier you brought back some memories naming those places in your post. I was with HqPlt, MaintBn, FLSG-B. Sempers, Roger

Rodger...
...we sure as hell were eating the same mud! We had a Sea Bee Blt right behind us at Dong Ha, we were just down the street from some Army outfit and the 3rd Marine "Motor T" area.
We moved up from Quang Tri sometime in the summer of "69". At Quan Tri we were across the street from an Army Unit and around the corner from the PX. Up at Con Tian (sp) I don't know who was around us, I was always in a "prefab" (because of the incoming) or on patrol! Welcome Bro! Semper Fi, Steve |

Steve
And we were eating the same dust. We had a nick name for Dong Ha: The Dust Bowl of the Orient.
We had a SeaBee Unit on one side and an Army Unit on the other side, don't remember Army Unit name but they had twin 40's mount on what looked like old tanks. Use to eat in the Army's Messhall, had better chow than we did.......HE HE HE HE Also did a lot of trading with both units. Hated when Charlie shelled us with arty and than later on with the 140mm rockets. Left there the end of June 69. was past my rotation date, they wanted me to stay, approved 6 month extension but HQ USMC said no and ordered me to MCSA in Philly. At least I was stationed at home. Sempers, Roger WELCOME HOME BRO

JAYSUS, YOU POOR SOBs
Army chow was better than Marine chow?! Shoulda' made them cooks permanent Grunts .
Actually, usually appreciated the hot meals that we occasionally got in the field. I'd eat the local chop-chop when I could. Eaten dog-on-a-stick a few times, along with other non-descript meats [didn't want to know]. The main attraction was that it didn't come out of a can. The only time I really got sick, was from eating too many of those little green bananas. WELCOME HOME, GYRENES

Went to 29 Palms a couple times and the Marines would always drop by our MKT for some chow, some things never change
