Thumbs up Gettysburg

141 years ago today the first of 3 bloody days of battle started at Gettysburg. My great grandfather missed this battle for some reason. Got me thinking that between having ancestors fighting in the Civil War , WWI and WWII I am very lucky there is a me today. Salute to both sides in this battle of Gettysburg

Glad I wasn't there!!!!

Hell, forget wars; look at the Spanish flu, the Black Death, yellow/scarlet fever, cholera, infant mortality....

It's a mystery there's any of us at all.

Thumbs up DESDICHADO

Your right. I went back and looked and my great granddad had 9 children after he got home from the war and 4 died before they were five years old. My granddad made it. I am very lucky indeed , now I am an Opa. Gonna make sure he grows up knowing the yesterdays that it took for him to live free today.. Thanks Desdichado.

Yeah, Desdichado,
We all have one - that old cemetary with tombstones you can hardly read. Found a civil war soldier's - died five days after Gettysburg. Farther out, in the "newer"graves, a half-dozen or so of kids and young people and oldsters who "hit the wall" in 1919. Spanish Influenza, I guess.
My kids are doing a great job with their Gremlins, DMZ-LT, but I'll keep checking on them ( and feeding and changing.....)
