You may have wondered how I got the first post of this thread on here. An understanding nurse bent the rules and let me post it when I checked in. I can't say enough good things about the staff there.

I have a few things to about about mental illness. In my case I didn't have a chance. One uncle and 4 cousins that I know about commited suicide or attempted it during the age range 50 - 59, and all died during that period of time in their lives... I am sure there is much more of it, but it is not quite something you ask about. I am sure many of you have noticed that alcoholism and drug abuse seem to run in families as well. It is an inherited disease, just like ALS, breast cancer, cystic fibrosis, and a whole range of other physical illnesses. My wife is bailing out on me when I need her most. She still doesn't understand mental illness and probably never will. I am not angry at her about it. If you have someone in your family like me, please give them all the love you can. It will make all the difference in the world.

Welcome home, glad to hear that your stay wasn't as aggrevating as others have had with the va. Just hope everything is on the up and up. Can't wait to see you posting again.
