Bob Hope has made military men and women laugh for more than 50 years. Now the U.S. Air Force Museum is celebrating the 98-year-old comedian and five decades of his jokes, cracks and quips with his own exhibit. More than 2,000 people gathered Saturday to honor Hope and dedicate the exhibit: "Bob Hope: 50 Years of Hope." Hope did not attend the tribute, which featured comedian Phyllis Diller and the U.S. Air Force Band of Flight, though members of his family did. The exhibit includes video clips of Hope's shows, bracelets he wore during the Vietnam War honoring prisoners of war and past awards. http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/ap20020310_661.html ----------------- You can have peace. Bob was great BUT!
Hi david, thanks for the welcome, Bob Hope was the greatest but sometimes people went overboard to see him. During the Christmas standdown in 1970 I was the Arty LNO for the 1st Bn. 27th Inf. 25th DIV. We had a recon patrol out that observed heavy NVA movement and resupply. We had a good fix on their position so I worked up a fire mission with a 4point zone and sweep battery 3rounds on each. When the rounds came in we were only getting 3 guns at a time instead of 6. We did not get the coverage we wanted and wound up in a difficult situation. when I questioned the FDO about why we only were getting 3 guns he replied that they had sent so many people to the Bob Hope christmas show that they could only man 3 guns.
About midnight the brigade CO. Col Ulatoski, 2/77 arty CO. Ltc. Kelly and 1/27 CO Ltc Johnston along with and unknown arty officer relieved the battery CO. Bob Hope probably unknowingly saved some future lives by relieving an unfit co. |

Hope
If you go to Google and type in KaZaA it will search for music, film clips, speachs etc. If you type in Bob Hope it will offer to down load for you some of the one hour radio shows he did for troops in WWII. Several of the shows have the Glenn Miller band playing a few songs, if you like the big band sound. It's funny, some of those WWII jokes are pretty funny, they would have been in Nam and still are funny today. God bless you Mr. Hope.
Stay healthy, Andy |

If there was anybody in the world I would like to have entertain me it would be Bob Hope and his Troop. Many other's toured the area I saw a few I never even heard of but hey they were there and did a show just for us - now how can you not appreciate that! Fly The Flag
