Major Clinton A. King, assistant S3 of the 32d AAA Brig, said the group visited installation of the 82d Chemical Smoke Generating Co and the 1st AAA Provisional Bn. The cadets were divided into pairs and assigned an American soldier to answer questions put by the visitors. The tour included an explanation of command functions, operation and maintenance of a 40-mm gun section. Cadets were given an opportunity to perform duties as members of the gun crews. Second Lt. John Armour, cadet training officer, expressed gratitude at the welcome shown the British contingent by the U.S. troops. He commented particularly on the American living quarters, saying: “In all my military career, I have never seen quarters that were as neat and well kept as these.” Source: Stars and Stripes Archives More... |
