Toledo Blade financial difficulties
Re: recent Tiger Force expose.
Might explain the reporters diligence in getting a "hot" story. Nevermind if it's true or not. Sensational and maybe a Pulitzer. bastards Greg From the Toronto Star: ------------------------------------- "It's public knowledge that the Blade isn't doing as well as it should be doing," says Royban. "The paper is not real healthy right now." And yet, amid falling ad lineage and dwindling revenues, the Blade nonetheless embarked upon what would have been an ambitious and risky investigative project for a newspaper many times its size and with a much healthier balance sheet. "It's like drilling for oil," says Blade publisher John Robinson Block. "You might not have a story when you're done." He admits there were times, as the months dragged on with little to show, when he wondered if the series would ever appear. But appear it did, and some pundits in the United States are already mentioning the Toledo Blade in the same breath as the words "Pulitzer Prize," the nation's premier award for journalism. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/Con...tar/Layout/Art icle_Type1&c=Article&cid=1069542606675&call_pageid=968332188854&col=968350060724 |
