I worked two major projects in Australia, one the Woodside project off Perth and the other being a Hydro electric project west of Sydney. Ok place, friendly enough, good sense of humor but their politics is a lot more rough and tumble than US politics. And once off the beaten path it’s best yanks acquire a thick skin, more so for the Brits. It’s a lot harder for a yank in Aus land than a Aus in yank land, but that’s just the way of things.
Anyway, kind of a counter- productive exchange happening here. Australia has their own set of problems and the US isn’t necessarily one of them, so let’s keep it that way. There is an interlocking mutually dependent relationship and no need to go tinkering about with that without due cause. And it’s Ok to fuss and argue about policy and treaty things, that’s what politicos are hired to do. I have zero issues with the southern cross and star of federation, period, and don’t intend to acquire any.

I agree with Scamp.

I've known a few folks from down under, and they've been true comrades.

They have a lot of mettle, and they carry their load in a scrap.

Definitely glad they're on our side of the fence, especially when the rubber meets the road.

Don't know what the New Zealanders know. I know I liked the video. From what I know it's a take-off on a New Zealand tourist campaign.

Have to completely agree with Scamp's and Rigger's comments. I have a great deal of respect for your nation. You have been in many a fight with us Yanks. Am proud to have you blokes on our side rather than against us.

All of those were great. The official NZ clip was a good one. Looks like a beautiful country.

Not to say that Australia isn't. My niece spent a year in Perth as an exchange student and has great pictures and stories.

Another Aussie speciual Service Soldier was killed last night 04/01/2009 in Afghanistan by a Taliban rocket. Apparrently the rocket actually hit him, no other soldiers were injured...
