Arizona?
I will be bopping in and out of the PF in the next wee while.
Sadly, my oldest son, who will be 16 on Dec7/03, is going through a very trying time. It is felt by his teachers, friends, Vice Principal, his father and myself that he is in serious depression. He has a ton of stuff since March to deal with. We are on our own without his father since the end of May. All 3 boys are going through tuff times. Anyways, along with all that stuff.... omg ..... he is a teenager too and going through all of that crap also. He refuses to go for assessment and help. I suspect he is just putting in time until his 16th birthday so he can 'leave'. Any tips would be most appreciated.I think I will have to let him go. He will find out soon enough that the grass is not greener on the other side. God.. what a difficult thing it is for this Momma to 'let' him go..... As the boys will be with their father from Dec 26- Jan 1,I am looking into a 'get away' somewhere warmer than up here in Igloo Land! I was pondering Arizona. Anyone I 'know' from around there? I sure could gratefully use a hidey hole to hide in for about 5 days ...Any ideas etc? Holy Cow but I neeeeeeeed to get away to recharge! Thanks. Susan

Hang in there Susan ! My daughters are grown now but during those teenage years I found myself running through hotels with a loaded 38 , at police stations picking them up , chasing boys out of my house with a bat and knocking out other Dads. It's amazing we all made it through those years but we did and so will you. You ain't the lone ranger. Baby steps and keep movin !!

I don't know your boy, you, his "friends" ... his father, or his "issues" ... his refusal to get help, or Whatever .... and although I was a teen runaway, my circumstances may have been quite a bit different than an oh hum ... there goes my 16 year old son ... to god knows what or to god knows whom ... out there in this very predatorial world. This ain't no soft note from me ... but if the problems are as serious as indicated by his school and friends ... some "grass is..." not greener aphorism is not good enough. ................... yah, got relatives in Arizona ............ made many bus trips to Arizona ....... |

well, there is always a silver lining in every cloud!
My son'smates stopped by yesterday and gave him 'what for' They all had a wonderful time!!!! And... he went back to school today! WOOOOHOOOO! I think he is on the mend.. at least to a happier place than he was before.Baby steps. Now.. I been thinkin'... perhaps Texas is the place to sneak off to between Xmas and New Years???? Hot and humid by the coast somewhere??? I am sure there are some Texans out there that can advise me of good places to go and, more importantly, where not to go. Well??? Anyone out there wanna take a stab at it??? Happy Turkey Day everyone! Susan
