Fight On
10-20-2018
It really doesn’t seem like seventy-three years have come and gone since the end of World War II, but I am sure that to many of you out there, the feelings are pretty much the same? As a matter of fact, I would be greatly surprised if any kid who ever served within the military, be it for but a matter of months or a career, is any different, felt any different, or was scared any differently than any other kid who ever served, be it at any other time in our history, all the way back to when those youngsters who battled right along side of Old George Washington Himself? Granted, they may have talked with an accent, and also granted, there were the hard cases and the tough nuts who were going to take control – “ah, the medals and honors that were just waiting to be won!” And of course, this was always bolstered by those old movies that depicted some “Tinsel Town Hero” that was just dripping with kudos and brass! Of course, it took a great deal of time and the wisdom of age to clarify our thinking and to temper the bravado of our youth. Unfortunately however, with age also comes a hunger in some people to excel, even if that excellence is more braggadocio than fact, and more Saturday morning commando than just a plain old good guy? And for the record, there ain’t a damned thing wrong with just being yourself, as not everybody can be a super hero seven days a week, unless of course, you are a or a Hollywood Commando? Unfortunately again, however, we all must answer to ourselves, as only “The Almighty” and ourselves can apply a fresh coat of wax and a dab of perfume in order to perk-up our scent or gloss up our patina! “And no – it is never too late to begin the job!!” Hardcore
