The Veterans Memorial Museum-5th Annual
Vietnam Veterans Recognition day
Chehalis, WA

On Saturday, August 3, 2002, we will be hosting our 5th annual Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day. This year's event will certainly equal our previous events. These days have always been very special and much healing has been experienced by those attending.

Our Guest speaker this year is John Hendrix, John was an observation helicopter pilot in Vietnam, served three tours of duty, shot down seven times, three-time recipient of the Purple Heart, four-time recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, and will be sharing his experiences and thoughts. John met a young Army nurse in Vietnam and they were married while still in country. His wife Patti, was our guest speaker last year. They both have tremendous stories to tell and we are blest to have John speak for us this year.

We are also extremely pleased to have recording artists, Greg and Linda Lewis as our vocalists and music this year. They have dedicated their lives to writing and performing music to the Vietnam and Persian Gulf era veterans. They will be singing such songs as "Forgotten Soldier", "Lady Belle", "The Wall" and "Amazing Grace". Everyone will be moved by the sincerity and emotion performed by this special couple.

Vietnam Veteran Randy Pennington has a special tribute that he has written and will share with his comrades and audience. If you were there last year, you won't want to miss this one.

The program will also contain a presentation of colors, invocation and benediction, special recognition of all Vietnam era veterans in attendance, photo session and refreshments.

The event will be held at the Centralia American Legion Post at 111 W. Main St, just six blocks down from the museum. We have moved the ceremony to the post meeting hall because of the large number of people attending, and to be removed from the possibility of inclement weather. After the ceremony, everyone is invited back to the museum for refreshments and tours of the museum.

Please come and support our Vietnam veterans, "Welcome them Home," and give them a hug they are long overdue.
