Some guys have all the luck!! I would love to have one of the old 03A4 Springfields.

Anyone else know what MRT stands for on leather slings and other leather weapon accessories?

There is a leather sling on Gubroker still in the wrap with a Federal Stock Number on it.

So I guess it's USGI stuff.

The MRT stamped on the leather cheek pads for the M1s referred to Mildew Resistant Treated and the date of the pad's manufacture. We had M1-Ds in Thailand and they were very fine shooting rifles.

eriksale,

Those are nice scopes.

I wish somebody would get real creative and incorporate a rangefinder and a scope together.

Focus on the scope's image and you're automatically zeroed for that range.

I had an M-14 with a 20X Unertl scope on it when I was a Company Comander in RVN. Best rifle and scope combination I ever fired. Great for picking the bastards off before they could moartar us.
