According to the dictionary, a decision is: “The act of deciding an issue, a question etc., and the making up of One’s Own Mind!”As a matter of fact, this is what we hire our leaders to do! “Nowhere”, however, is it decreed that the decision of any one person is going to set well with everyone, all at the same time? For if this were truly the case, then there would be no gray areas in which making a decision was even necessary?

Nor should any individual be chastised or even fired, for exercising their judgment in a matter for which they are empowered to do so, and in my opinion, this is exactly what happened as recently concerns “The Captain of the Carrier Roosevelt!”

You don’t hire a highly educated and trained individual to run the show, and then fire him because his decisions may not always sit well with all concerned! As a matter of fact, I recall where even “Admiral Bull Halsey” was once criticized for a decision back during World War II, but it must be remembered that were it not for men like Halsey, and even “The Captain of The Roosevelt” as well (men who were chosen to lead and make snap-decisions), our military would probably be in sad shape indeed! “As a matter of fact, we may even be approaching a point in time when even having an opinion that goes contrary to the current consensus, will become a crime against humanity!

And for the record, who was it that once said: “Let He Who Is Without Sin?” And even a naval vessel has but one captain, and upon that ship – “His Word Is Law!”
