PR is a risky weapon

The coordinated wave of rocket attacks, assassinations and bomb blasts
that have shaken Iraq since the start of Ramadan are the bloodiest
anti-American assaults since the tanks rolled into Baghdad last April.

The apparent organization and sophistication of the attacks call into
question the administration's latest PR campaign. The White House has
begun a concerted effort to refute what administration officials
believe is the distorted picture conveyed by media that focus too
heavily on violence while ignoring the steady progress on the ground.

All this took me back to another holiday assault 35 years ago - the
communists' Tet offensive in Vietnam.

Making comparisons between Vietnam and Iraq is a quagmire of its own.
In most respects, the two situations bear little resemblance.

But there is a parallel to be drawn between Washington then and
Washington now. Like the Bush administration now, the Johnson
