Default Pi day post

I tried to post the first one million digits of Pi and basically blew up the server so I had to delete the post as it was causing internal server errors. Sorry about that

Here is a link to the first billion, 100 billion, and over 1 trillion digits of Pi. I would post it here but the smallest file (1 billion digits) is almost a gigabyte.

David,

It's interesting how people are fascinated by irrational numbers, like Pi.

It baffles me personally, that a number that represents a linear distance which has a specific beginning and a specific ending is a non-repeating and a non-terminating number!

Although we go to great lengths to calculate Pi out to all the digits, the PRACTICAL value of Pi for anything in the known universe needs only 39 digits, which would represent the Pi value for the circumference of the nucleus of a Hydrogen atom.

Yep, Pi is Greek for 3.14. Or, the letter P in the Greek alphabet. Ye Ole Greek Scholar.

3.1416? I believe we only used 3.14. But that's been nearly fifty years ago for High School and Nearly 45 years ago for college. Its been too long ago for an accurate memory.
