If guns settle wars, it can truly be said that money starts them! As it is with most things, wars are predicated upon money and power, and not just the quality of life. Hell, even our President realizes this, and has already set about the task of enticing huge bucks to pay for his second run for the gold!

I guess for that matter, not too much is not for sale, politicians included. But what, pray tell, drives a man or woman into politics? It surely isn?t the money alone, as most of the big boys have managed to beg, borrow and steal their way into a fortune long before they seek the ultimate kick, that being absolute power!

Wouldn?t it be grand if the high rollers really entered the political arena for the sole purpose of public service? But Hell, why fool yourself, most enter the game for ego! They, like an ?M1A1 Tank?, require massive amounts of fuel to keep on running, and that fuel (again) is power!

What amazes me the most, however, are the people who tag along for the ride. Not the favor mongers, mind you, but rather those who seek to serve an "Up And Coming" lord and master! The entourage who wipe the asses of any given political celebrity, just for the sake of being a toady!

Granted, a few serve ?The Man? with no thought of personal (so-called) glory, and these people are to be applauded for their loyalty and zeal! Unfortunately, however, many more plunge themselves into political servitude with their own eye on the frosting!

Getting back to the politico him (or her) self - once most of them capture all of the marbles, they quickly forget their prime mandate and pander to (not the masses), but rather those who can do them the most good! The truly pathetic brush-stroke upon this painting, however, is the fact that some people are so damned gullible! I guess that no one really expects a politician to carry through upon his promises, because few rarely do! And as for having a truly rounded leader, this often is as rare as teeth in a chicken! If they are adept at economics, they usually stink in martial (wartime) activities, and vice-versa!

Now don?t take me wrong, a good offense is often the best defense. But when a leader, (any leader) regardless of political party, is only proficient at saber rattling, then some of the major factors of survival go untended! And if this is true, what in the hell are we fighting for - certainly not for ?Daddy Warbucks? alone!

A person (or a nation) fights for security, to insure domestic tranquility, for shared prosperity, and most of all for the survival of being and his way of life! He does not battle, however, for foreign agenda or to insure alien affluence and influence! Nor does he do combat to feed international egos - ?And So It Often Is, Unfortunately!"
