Hell,...that guy is the-spittin-image of a couple of my 45 DIs that had during Basic Training with 10th Recon Company at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Since were only 150 of us snot-nosed Volunteer (volunteering not norm in 1955) Recruits out of a TOE of 195 TOTAL in an Armored Cavalry Recon Co.,...that comes out to approximately 1 Drill Instructor per 3 Trooper Recruits.

Right from the very git-go or first 4 months all knew we were in deep do-do.

Regardless, and after spending rest of 3 years of my life (28 months of that time in West Germany) with such REAL: "Bad Asses" (some both WWII & Korea tested),...all learned that such were unarguably the types to be around when The S--t hits The Fan.

Some new West Point Officers being broken in every now & then? Eh?

Regardless, our original DIs no longer having Smokey Bear hats, "They" knew their stuff & taught us well.

So here's to you: "Pappy" (re: Master Sgt "Pappy" Powers now deceased) & all rest of you REAL NCO Bad Asses.

I'm sure you & like saved as MANY snot-noses as possible with your cool-headed knowledge of combat, after so-called: "Peactime" or Coldwar ended & Vietnam & world heated-up.
