During sea trials ships have to preform these maneuvers. I was on CVA31 shortly after dry-docking and a major overhaul and then followed by sea trials. I was amazed the degree of test involved. These ships are designed to do things most would think impossible.

We swamped a beach coast line during a high speed turn and the Navy had to compensate those who were so disposed by our wakes during these high speed test. The picture brought back memories of those test. Thanks
