I was filling sand bags in Dak To.
We would fill sand bags for our new bunkers most all day and then send out night patrols. Night Patrols around Dak To really, Really sucked.
You would head out about an hour before dark and stop about 1/2 hour out, set up and wait, The bushes would move, the trees would move, the ground would move, but nothing was there. So spooky that you would have to tell your partner to blink so they wouldn't hurt there eyes. Has anyone ever had to tell you to Blink? You had to know who was to your left or right to identify someone coming from that way at night. Fox holes were not safe and above ground wasn't safe. It was so scary I seen more than one guy with wet pants in the morning and, you know what, no one said a word about it. They knew.
