Question What If

8-18-2023

What if the appropriately-named “Hurricane Hillary” spits into the faces of all of those highly educated weather-icons and decides instead - to do exactly what she wants to do and not what those sage-like meteorologists have (virtually) ordered her to do?

I mean that, after all is said and done, it ain’t advisable to play around with, or even attempt to think for, “Old Mother Nature Herself” – Now Is It?

For mankind is a virtual – “Babe in the Woods” (opinion) when it comes to attempting to double-guess the forces of “Time and Nature”, IS HE NOT?! And even though we are situated in the prospective line of fire of “Hurricane Hillary”, several other natural factors have to be considered and at least partially anticipated? And our weather-services are doing a splendid job (another opinion) of laying out all of the possible scenarios, and this, at the same time when portions of “The State of Hawaii (Maui)” are still recovering from the massive fires that wreaked a helluva-lot of havoc in their wake!

The bottom line here is that: “These violent things can hit us at any time, and virtually at any place!” So be as prepared as you possibly can - plenty of candles and emergency supplies, lots of non-perishable foods and a goodly volume of fresh water and medical materials as well (etc)!

And most of all again – “Never Take Mother Nature Too Lightly!” As, in my own opinion, no place upon ‘Earth’ is ever ‘sacrosanct (untouchable or immune)’ from “The Hand of Nature on A Rampage!” “GOOD LUCK - AND GOD BLESS!!”

(Tribune News Service) — The Navy announced late Friday night that it will send many of its warships out of San Diego Bay on Saturday to make it easier to manage and secure vessels that need to stay in port when Hilary slams the region as a tropical storm on Sunday and Monday.

"In order to ensure the safety of our Sailors and ships, we are taking all necessary measures to mitigate potential damage to infrastructure and Third Fleet vessels caused by the storm," Vice Adm. Michael Boyle, commander of U.S. Third Fleet, said in a statement.

"Safety remains our top priority, and putting all capable ships to sea makes it easier for us to manage the situation ashore."

San Diego is home to more than 50 surface ships, including three aircraft carriers, as well as four nuclear-powered submarines.

The Navy says it will move ships from Naval Base San Diego, Naval Base Coronado and Naval Base Point Loma.

"The ships will remain at sea until inclement weather from the storm subsides," the Navy said. "Aircraft are secured in hangars that are rated to withstand wind greater than those anticipated onboard Naval Air Station North Island and Naval Air Facility El Centro."

Personal note: Wise move - better safe than sorry they say.
