Hi,

I hope I can catch the broadcast.

I'm hoping to find some input on the INdianapolis VA hospital, regarding how much BS I'll have to go through. Is there any idea of a general attitude in most of the hospitals?

I can only talk for the hospital here in Atlanta today and say that there isn't a more careing staff in any hospital. We moved from Cleveland, Oh. in '94 and in the Cleveland VA you were WORK, you were in the way of the next break and you were to be gotten rid of ASAP. Here in Atlanta I can show you two e-mails that came to me from a doctor that answered a question that had bugged me since I came home from VN in '68. She went way out of her way to put that question to rest and then told me what was accomplished after that incident and it was only mentioned to her in one of my appointments with her.
'Course I can't say diddly-squat about the dental clinic. You're sure to leave that clinic with less teeth than you went in with. I have twelve less than I had a year ago but the dentist didn't seem to be in a hurry to pull 'em out and they damn sure aren't in a hurry to replace them.

I am fortunate to have worked for the federal government for 32 years and retired with private insurance. I use the VA for mental health related therapy, dental work, all my meds, and physicals, and blood work. I would give them an A+ on all of this. That is as far as I will go with them though.

Default Good point Larry

I also retired from Fed service after 27 years and also kept my health benefits including vison and dental. I use the VA for Blood Pressure maintainance, blood work, and mental health. All other, private insurance pays for. After they butchered my hip.....I can't trust them beyond the simple out-patient things. ESPECIALLY COLONOSCOPIES!

See you in 3 or 4. Keep practicing your poker.

Thanx for the input. What I've heard is I'll first have to go there and get an "intake," then keep any appointment they give me for a "first exam," then make certain I keep any appointments beyond that for exams, in my case an EMG. I'm told if I miss an appointment it all starts over, save for the "intake." Does this sound about right?

Getting the VA to change course on something is about as easy as sticking out your foot to stop a train. Once it gets going just keep on riding. Another thing, if you are trying to get disability from the VA it helps very much if you have been treated for it by the VA.
