Got this in my E-mail this afternoon from the NVLSP.

It really don't suprise me though.

***START***

CONCURRENT RECEIPT OF VA DISABILITY AND RETIRED PAY FOR MILITARY RETIREES

Congress has voted in principle to end the ban on concurrent receipt of VA disability and retired pay for military
retirees who are authorized VA disability compensation. However, the legislation would authorize concurrent
receipt in a future year only if the president and Congress can find the money in the budget. The Administration
opposes concurrent receipt. Thus, most disabled military retirees will continue to have a $ reduction in their
retired pay for each $ of VA disability compensation they receive.

Although Congress has refused to authorize funding for concurrent receipt, it has again increased the ?special
compensation? payments for some disabled retirees and added others to the ?special compensation? list.
Retirees with VA disabilities of 70 percent or higher currently receive $100 to $300 monthly. This will increase
by $25 a month beginning January 1, 2003 for retirees rated 80 percent or higher, and $25 a month effective
October 1, 2004, for those rated at 70 percent. Special compensation of $50 a month beginning February 1,
2002 will be available to retirees who served at least 20 years on active duty and who were awarded VA
disabilities of 60 percent within 4 years of retiring.

***END***

Until we can get the "administration" to STOP their "opposition" to concurrent-receipt, we will NEVER get them to "find" any $$$$$ in the budget to fund this bill!

They all agreed on the fact that concurrent reciept of retirement/disability is the only fair and equitable way to resolve this travesty...Seems however, that noone will put their money where their mouth is.What a crock of shit!
