Graduated HS in 65 and off I went. College , War , Marriage , 2 Kids , Civilian , Lost my Brother and Parents , Grand Babies and finally 44 years later , Opa. I used to wonder why I wasn't killed when so many around me were but now I know God had something else planned for me...... I was born to be an Opa. Welcome Home !

I watched the show about Lam Som 719 on the Military Channel the other day....About the 48th Helicopter Assault Squadron....the Blue Stars and the Jokers who protected them. What a corageous bunch of soldiers !! I know you were there on the ground John.

Started off Lam Son 719 with about 22 guys in my platoon. When we got back to Dong Ha about two months later I had two of the orginal men I started out with , all the rest were replacements. Tiny was one of the guys and Bobby was another. Still in touch with Bobby. Went and visited Tiny a year before he died and his wife asked me if I was ever scared and before I could say a word Tiny told her " We are combat veterans , we ain't scared of nothing " I was scared most of the time but I sure was proud of Tiny for saying that. I was never a hero but I served with a bunch of em.Peace
