Mass grave found in Vietnam
Mass grave found in Vietnam
(EXCERPT) Vietnam says a mass grave containing the bodies of 127 communist soldiers killed during the Vietnam war has been found in the central Province of Kon Tum. The state-controlled Vietnam News Agency says the bodies were buried in a bomb crater at a military base used by the United States before 1972. As many as 300,000 of the estimated three million people killed during the war are listed as missing. The Uni... U.S. and friendly nation laws prohibit fully reproducing copyrighted material. Re: Mass grave found in Vietnam
In my first contact in the Central Highlands, we ( U.S. Army;4th Inf.
Div.2/8th Inf.);killed several hundred North Vietnamese regulars with only two or three Americans killed and one or twowounded. The ones we buried in mass graves (we had to use bull dozers to dig the holes to bury them) were only the ones that the NVA left behind. Many of the NVA wounded and killed may have been taken to the near by mountains as the NVA fled. The NVA attacked us. They lost. Mr. C.V. Compton Shaw;US Army;4th Inf. Re: Mass grave found in Vietnam
since this was a little past yer time in country CV...
these dead are likely the remnants of the NVA that attacked Kontum during the Eastertide Offensive. took a while to clear the buggers out. they had the dink friendlies on the run til JP Vann threatened the ARVN with an Arc Light of their very own. with leaders that didn't cut an run as well as steal their paychecks the ARVN rangers and regulars did fight off the NVA granted with massive American Air Support...something that our cocksuckers in Congress denied them in 1975. there were similar offensives down south (An Loc?) and Quang Tri/Hue in I Corp. similar results...airpower and guts stopped em but mostly air power. American support (advisors, pilots) made sure the NVA didn't get any further. FWIW, our Unknown Soldier from Vietnam was a jet jockey who died supporting the ARVN in the south. An American advisor was able to blow a bridge on QL1 in the Hue area that stopped the NVA there. no doubt there are some mass graves at all three locations. the trail was not for hauling dead back north. only for bringing supplies south. FYI there's a website by Jack Heslin, that covers the Battle of Kontum http://www.thebattleofkontum.com/index.html "C.V.
