When MEN go down to the sea in ships
If anyone tells you that working on a supply vessel at Hibernia or Terra Nova, off the southeast coast of Newfoundland, is a fun job tell them to think again.
These pics were taken from the Hibernia Platform. Fishing anyone???

Hey Wazza,
I've been in weather like that not quite that small a vessel but I know how the ocean can get. Great photo's and thanks.

Used to handle two of their Tankers.
The KOMETIK and the MATTEA. Both used to make the run from Hibernia to Delaware City but we'd have to anchor them offshore and lighter them to 45' to get into Big Stone anchorage. Once at Bigstone we'd have to lighter them again to 38' to make the channel up-river. I used to board them in seas like that sometimes. Instead of trying to use a Jacob's Ladder they'd lower a cargo net on the ships crane and we'd ride the cargo net up to the deck. We'd have to wait for the weather to get better to get off again. I believe its Petro-Canada that runs the Hibernia Rig. Those pictures show definite "Sea Sick" weather. I don't care how "Experienced" the sailor, in seas like that you end up "Calling New Yawk!!!"
