Thumbs up Latest Tamaroa Update as of 3/8/2004

We just received a $7,800.00 Conservation Assessment Program Grant from the Federal Government. These grants are the first major step in receiving future governmental and corporate grants. With this money we will hire maritime experts to spend a considerable amount of time going over every inch of the ship, determining every area of concern that should be addressed and how much funding should be allocated to mitigate each of those concerns. Their in-depth survey will give us a much better picture of what we SHOULD be doing, The study will put financial requirements next to each of these concerns and suggestions, outlining what we SHOULD be spending time and money on and not what we THINK we should be spending time and money on.

Upon completion of this study we will be in a much better position to prioritize our short-term and long-term goals, allowing us to allocate funding in a more efficient manner.

The City of Hampton officials indicated that they want the Tam on-site by Memorial Day, if possible.

We are currently working with the Secretary of the Navy in an effort to contact Northrop Grumman on our behalf to get the Tam into drydock.

===================

Regards

Bill

Thanks!

I know the Slater. She's a beauty. I saw her when she was berthed at the Intrepid Museum several years ago. Gawd what a rust bucket. The guys have done a great job with her.
