Congress knows the People need to hear all the evidence "good or bad" regardless of political persuasion. It's the only way we can put all these issues to rest. It's what our constitution requires due process. To do otherwise defaults our standards.

Article II, Section 4 provides: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

Impeachment is the process by which a legislative body levels charges against a government official. Impeachment does not in itself remove the official definitively from office; it is similar to an indictment in criminal law, and thus it is essentially the statement of charges against the official.

The Watergate tapes defined Nixon's impeachment. John Bolton's firsthand account of Trump's abuse of power could define Trump's impeachment. In an astonishing development, The New York Times reported yesterday that Bolton has compelling, firsthand knowledge of the Ukraine scandal:

"President Trump told his national security adviser in August that he wanted to continue freezing $391 million in security assistance to Ukraine until officials there helped with investigations into Democrats including the Biden's, according to an unpublished manuscript by the former adviser, John R. Bolton."

It’s clear that this new evidence directly contradicts the President’s sham defense strategy. Beyond direct knowledge of Trump’s attempt to solicit foreign interference in U.S. elections, Bolton also has information about key White House officials who were involved in the Ukraine scandal, like Mick Mulvaney. For months, the White House has been refusing to allow these witnesses to testify in an attempt to cover up the truth.

The GOP has gone too far. If the trial is to be fair, Senators must act on this new evidence.
