Way back when they painted birds..
I've been looking at some pictures of the newer aircraft carriers.
The deck shots look pretty bland. I like the days when the Birds had some color to them! Here's a photo of an F-8 getting ready to lauch off cat #1 of the USS Independence in 1959.

I like the painting of aircraft - sorta gives them life and meaning. But I'm sure the brass had other thoughts on that.
