Air Force Aid Grants Available
The Air Force Aid Society plans to award up to 3,000 grants to dependents of Air Force members for their college education through the General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program. Applications for these need-based grants are now available from the Society's website, www.afas.org. Completed forms must be received by AFAS no later than March 11.
The grant program is open to dependent children of active duty, Title 10 Reservists on extended active duty, Title 32 AGR performing full-time active duty, retired, retired reservists and deceased Air Force members. Spouses of active duty members and surviving spouses of deceased personnel are also eligible. All applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduates at an accredited college or university during the 2011-2012 academic year, and are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average.
Selection is heavily based on cost of attendance, family income, and is dependent on the number of eligible applicants competing. Final need assessment will be determined by an independent agency.
All interested students are encouraged to review full eligibility requirements, procedures and application instructions on the Society's website. Apply now. Don't miss out on a chance for college cash through a program with an average selection rate of better than 50 percent.

Adopt-A-Classroom
This program is designed for a smaller group of people who wish to work with a classroom or in a specific venue of a school (volunteering for sports activities or school stores). These individuals can contact the School Liaison Office and indicate what teacher or activity the group would like to volunteer. The SLO will in turn make all the necessary arrangements to set up the opportunity between the desired classroom or activity. Finally, the SLO will re-engage with the small group to pass along contact information. This program allows small groups to become more involved with the children and allows the group to excel in a particular field rather than working on a large scale with the school. For more information, please contact the SLO at DSN 226-5077/5078 or COMM 01368-52-5077/5078.

Adopt-A-School
The Adopt-A-School Program is designed to encourage Units and Squadrons to adopt-a-school and volunteer their time in building a positive role-model relationship with the DoDDS Community. Squadrons/Units who adopt a specific school will be able to volunteer for various programs, events or activities within the school. For more information, please contact the SLO at DSN 226-5077/5078 or COMM 01368-52-5077/5078.
