Go figure!
A guy I know gets into an accident, claims "neck" injuries, and goes out on disabilities, wins a settlement for about $350.000. He has two kids from a prior marriage. One lives with him, the other with the mother. He marries a woman who is pulling in child support for two kids of her own at $700.00 per month, in addition to a full time job making $25,000/yr. The two end up having two kids of their own. In the meantime, they put down $50,000 for a $180,000 house, buy a 2004 Envoy loaded, and a (new at the time of purchase) 2001 Loony Tunes edition Chevy Venture. He now has a job making $25,000/yr. Now they purchase a $45,000 2005 Toyota Sequoia (loaded). Here's the kicker! They qualify for government assistance!? And they're PROUD of it! Their daycare expences are @51.00 per week for an infant and a two year old, and they qualify for a government program called Women Infants and Children (WIC). His two children are on Medicade and hers are on a NYS funded program called Child Health Plus (CHP).
Am I doing something wrong? Our household income is $55,000- $70,000. The variance is based on my hours and job. I work anywhere from 40 to 75 hrs a week. My wife has a full time job @ $27,000. We have two children and had to take them off CHP because we made too much! I pay $300 per month in child support for a child from a previous marriage.

The system is flawed, it's not going to get fixed anytime soon. Ask them to borrow one of there POV's, hell your paying for them.
