Default Any one that has seen war

Will always see war.

I watch a movie and see something in the movie that reminds me of war. I walk down the street and see a guy with an Army shirt on, I drive my car and see a Vietnam Sticker in someones back window, I see street signs in Vietnamese, every day on TV there are tanks and 155 shooting.
All these things bring back instances in VN, a War a long time ago but only yesterday in my brain.

Not alone Ron, I see Chu Moor Mountain again, I see Dak To, and I try to remember that it was more then 30 years ago, not now, all though my brain keeps saying duck for cover. So when I get back to group I'll talk about it, and let lie where it should, pick up again and go on until I end in a firefight in dream and wake up in sweat. For those who have seen war, they never stop seeing it.

I'm glad that I decided to pay another visit to this site. It's been awhile, but when I read some of these posts and the responses from other vets, I feel like I'm in the company of friends. Grunt to grunt, thanks guys. I'll try not to be such a stranger and I do need the company of friends who understand where i'm coming from. Semper Fi

Ron,
Am I reading correctly, you registered as a member back in Jan 1970 ? Man, have I got a lot of catching up to do.
I spent my year with the 1st Marines in Quang Nam province, I Corps. I arrived late November '68 and rotated out in December '69. I was an 0311, grunt and proud of it ! I did the usual grunt duties, patrols and sweeps, ambushes and insertions, lp's and op's, firefights and booby traps, fire missions and med-evacs, was radioman, pointman, squad leader, several operations such as Pipestone Canyon and Durham Peak, humped Dodge City, Arizona Territory and NoName Island. Had my share of malaria, ringworm, gook sores, heat rash, jungle rot, diarrhea and even managed to make it home in one piece with a Purple Heart. My body recovered but my head still ain't right. I'm a survivor and I try to keep the memory of my buddies alive by telling stories about their sacrifice to those in need of hearing such words. Semper Fi, Scott
