In some way the USMC's equivilence of the USARMY's "Center of Military History"-site.....
See by link: http://www.usmc.mil/marinelink/mcn20...epage?readform In "Choose section to search:", choose "Directive". Then enter searchword/words in above field, for example Vietnam, or aviation... There is "tons of info" in there, by pdf-files!!! 2 examples, when searching by "Marines and Helicopters": Marines and Helicopters -1946-1962 + 1962-1973 (both are pdf-files): http://www.usmc.mil/directiv.nsf/bc9...57169006d69e0/$FILE/Marines%20and%20Helicopters%201946-1962%20%20PCN%2019000306900.pdf http://www.usmc.mil/directiv.nsf/bc9...57169006d69e1/$FILE/Marines%20and%20Helicopters%201962-1973%20%20PCN%2019000307400.pdf Just wanted to share. The Humper, Sir!
May I ask you, in which unit, (or units), you served in? To avoid possible missunderstandings between us, I myself have not served in US Armed Forces. Served for a short period in Swedish Defense Forces. Mainly in AF, but also for a brief period in ARMY Inf. (Rifle company). Am now a civilian since many years, and as of just a few years back, transfered from "active reserv" to "inactive" status. Also, the reason for why I wish to ask you regarding your unit/units, is not due to wanting to "pry". As you may have noticed, I have a tendency to post links. And my thought behind asking you regarding your unit/units, is that perhaps I could try to find links of a more precise interrest for you, if not being among the links I posted earlier in this "subforum" of Patriotfiles, for "Marines". Take Good Care! Sincerely A.B |

U.S.M.C.-- 1950-1952. Overseas in Korea 12 months, 6 days. In C-1-1. "Charlie Co., 1st Batallion, 1st Regiment, 1st Marine Division, as a machine gunner.
This regiment was the last regiment that Chesty Puller commanded before he was promoted to General. He is the most decorated Marine in History, w/ 5 Navy Crosses. Saw him one time, about 3 miles in front of our line, nothing but him and his driver, "Jones". Didn't see him at first, but heard this voice say, "How you doing old man", looked up and there stood this General beside his jeep. Scared the beejeebers out of me and I don't think my feet touched the ground until I was nearly 20 yards away from him. But I did get in the last word, when I said, "Fine Sir".

The Humper, Sir!
As I have been online and "active participant/poster" on Veteran forums for several years now, I of course now recognize General Puller by the name. But I am forced to confess that, I am in need of a more deeper "read up on" the General, as far as his history is concerned. Sadly, this is yet still the case, after several years now, being posting on Veteran forums. Having quite a lot of "online projects" ongoing (to a large degree "searches"), aswell as being a small child father, however have made me unable to change this situation yet, being about still not having read more deeper about General Puller. But in time, I will eventually do so, I hope. As you know, I posted in the "Korean War"-subforum some time ago, with links related to the forums puspose/name. I thought I had posted "Marine links" on This subforum also. I now however realise I was in error in my beleif and memory, regarding the latter. I will correct this after this post-reply to you, though I will post the "Marine links" in a seperate post-thread, this being with "all Marine links" I have gathered and saved so far. Regarding the links I have for specifically your unit, I will put them at bottom of this post. Not much I found really, but at least I found the associations for both C-co, the Bn aswell as the Division. Please note the Bn-reunion of 1/1st Marines, which I have found info about also! You may of course perhaps already have some or all the below liks. But "just incase" there are 1 or 2 of them which you do not have, I just wish to make certain you now will have them, by the below posted links. Regarding the links of "all Marine links" I have, which I will post in a seperate postthread in this forum, please help me to share them further on, with all Marines you beleive will have use for having the links in question. Before I end my somewhat rambling reply to you, I just wish to say that, I am Glad that you are Home Sir! T G C ( = Take Good Care!) Sincerely A.B Links for 1/1st Marines, as folllows: ___________________________ The 1/1st Marines 2007-reunion will be during September 12-16, 2007.
