May 14, 1944 Ferrara, Italy The target was the Marshalling yards and a railroad bridge. We were at an altitude of 21,000 ft and it was 28 degrees below zero. There were no enemy fighters. They shot quite a bit of flak at us. We made two bomb runs over the target. Mission No 39 May 17, 1944 Bihac, Yugoslavia The target was supposed to be a German High Command Headquarters. We were at 24,000 ft and it was 28 degrees below zero. There was no flak and no enemy fighters. Mission No 40 May 19, 1944 Rimini, Italy The target was a railroad bridge and the railroad yards. We were at 21,00 ft and it was 21 degrees below zero. We had no flak and no enemy fighters. Mission No 41 May 25, 1944 Lyon, France The target was the railroad yards. Our altitude was 23,500 ft and it was 30 degrees below zero. Again we had no flak and no enemy fighters. Mission No 42 May 27, 1944 Anignon, France The target was the railroad yards and a railroad bridge. We were at 21,000 ft and it was 20 degrees below zero. There was no flak and no enemy fighters. |
