Just a little detail tracking, using info directly from news website reports:

They just can't count, I guess.

Abdul Salam Zaeef, the Taliban Ambassador to Pakistan, ... said through an interpreter, ... almost 20 people died in the attack in Kabul, "including women, children and elderly." In Pakistan...Zaeef told the Associated Press that there had been casualties. ?Civilians died. It was a very huge attack.? (but no 'heavy damage' supposedly - see below) Zaeef did not explain where he got his information and he could not say where the deaths occurred.
The Taliban government of Afghanistan, under attack because of its refusal to surrender Sept. 11 terror attacks suspect Osama bin Laden, now says about 20 Afghan civilians were killed in the air raids on Afghanistan.
As dawn broke over Afghanistan, there were contradictory reports on casualties. Eyewitnesses in Kabul cited by Reuters that there were "several deaths" in the Afghan capital; the Afghan Islamic Press said at least 20 people were killed in Kabul and the Taliban's ambassador to Pakistan said that civilians were killed in a "huge" assault.
'LAST BREATH OF LIFE' But a couple of hours later, Taliban radio reported there were no casualties while insisting that Afghans would fight to the "last breath of life."

Q: How many women did the Taliban have put to death just this year? How many Afgan children have starved to death or died of sickness due to the Taliban's stranglehold on the country?

Oh, by the way, Afghanistan also has the world's highest rate of women who die in childbirth, and one-fourth of its children die before reaching age 5.

*WE* play dirty, *WE* are "terrorists??

Two U.S. Cargo Planes Drop 37,500 Food Packets, enriched with vitamins and minerals, to starving Afghans, pop. 24 million, on the first day of air strikes, also medicine and humanitarian supplies. The food, wrapped so that one packet has enough for one person for one day, does not contain any animal products so as not to violate any religious or cultural practices. Muslims, for example, do not eat pork. The packets provide at least 2,200 calories per day. The United Nations says a quarter of Afghanistan's 24 million population are dependent on food aid.

Q: How much humanitarian aid did OBL provide to NY, Washington DC and PA while having his commandos fly hijacked planes into the WTC, and Pentagon ?

Q: When did the Taliban last concern itself with whether the Afghan people ate, especially those children who frequently don't live past age 5?

No major damage, huh?

NO ?MAJOR DAMAGE?
Meantime, the private, Islamabad-based Afghan Islamic Press agency quoted the Taliban as saying American planes had bombed areas near the Kabul airport in the northern part of the city. The agency said there were no details of casualties and no reports of damage to the city itself. It added, however, that ?huge smoke is rising near Kabul airport.?
In a statement carried by Afghan Islamic Press, an unidentified Taliban spokesman in Kandahar said all provincial airports in the country appeared to have been targets ?but we have not suffered any major damage.?
However, during 4 waves in 6 hrs. hours' time, the USA & Brits targeted the Taliban's air defense installations, defense ministry, airport-based command centers, airfields, electrical grids and other energy production facilities.
U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said about 15 land-based bombers, 25 strike aircraft and U.S. and British ships and submarines fired about 50 Tomahawk missiles against terrorist targets.
Witnesses in Kandahar told CNN at least three explosions rocked the city and power was out. Explosions were also reported in Afghanistan's capital Kabul and in Jalalabad near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
CNN's Kamal Hyder reported a huge explosion at an oil depot at the Herat airport in western Afghanistan, most likely a result of the airstrikes.

Pakistani Prez doesn't want the Afghan rebels to get a leg up?

Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf held a news conference this morning, saying that his country cannot take in any more Afghan refugees, and warning Afghan resistance fighters not to try to use the U.S. and British military attacks for their own advantage.
Observers say Pakistan fears the possibility of a government formed by Afghan rebels, because that would mean a less influential role for Pakistan in Afghanistan.

Just lying (again), or wishful thinking?

The Taliban also claims to have shot down at least one plane, but the Pentagon says it did not lose any aircraft.
No U.S. Or British Casualties Are Reported
Taliban Assistant Defense Minister Al Mulah Noor Ali told the Arab news channel Al Jazeera that Taliban forces shot down one U.S. aircraft Sunday, but Rumsfeld denied that claim. He said no U.S. aircraft have been hit by Taliban forces.

US attack unacceptable to Iran?

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said the attacks "were carried out without regard to world public opinion and particularly the Islamic countries. These attacks will result in loss of life among civilians, and, therefore, they are not acceptable."

Q: What, exactly, was "acceptable" about the loss of civilian life during the Iran/Iraq war against Kuwait and the Kurds?

Just keeping track of a few details.........
After all, those Talibums first said they hadn't seen 'em and didn't know where he was and it wasn't their day to watch 'em, then they claimed that had to protect 'em from the big, bad USA, then they claimed the forgot where they put 'em and couldn't find 'em, then they weren't gonna give 'em up, then they couldn't find 'em again, now they just flat out won't tell.....

Sound familiar? A lot of the propaganda we're hearing from the Taliban and their supporters is a paraphrased replay of what Saddam Hussein said during the Gulf War. How original can they get?
