just in ...
...Just recieved this in an e- mail...
...My mother in law sends me these every once in a while, and being the "Democrat" which she is, just wondering where she's coming from on this one... > >"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry >into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It >both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of >war have reached a fever pitch, and the blood boils with hate and the mind >has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the >citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by >patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. >How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar." >- Julius Caesar ...comments...........

This is my first post here so bear with me. I think people shouldn't just blindly follow what their leaders say just because it sounds patriotic. That said the people must also have a certain amount of trust in their leaders if the country is to prosper.

Blind patriotism!
Can easily be abused.
Always being a skeptic also has its pit falls. What America needs is "sound thinking, logical patriotism." Keith |

Many people who have never served think that we just blindly follow orders without much thought. Yet some of the world's greatest leaders through out history; once followed orders themselves.
To paraphrase something I once read... Go not blindly into that cold dark night.
