WILLIAM (BILL) HARVEY 11/06/24 ~11/2/2010 It is with great sadness that the family of Bill announce his death on November 2, 2010. Bill, a lifelong resident of Riverside, was born Nov. 6th, 1924 in West Palm Beach, Florida to Gladys Fellows Hewlett and Sydney Victor Harvey. He is survived by his wife Teresa (Terry) of 63 years. Their family includes: David and his wife Ellen of Oxnard, CA; Diane and her husband Dennis of Anacortes, Washington; Edward and his Wife Sandra of Riverside; Thomas and his wife Debbie of Daegu, Republic of Korea; Robert and his wife Suzanne of Riverside. They have 11 grandchildren: Jolie, Richard, Monica, Andy, Sydney and Zachary Harvey; Sarah Kolb; Michelle Cameron; and Keith, Kelly and Scott Love. Also, there are 4 great grandchildren: Rowan, Jasper and Olivia Love; and Sadie Harvey. They have one great, great grandchild Aurora McCrea-Love. Bill was predeceased by his sister Eunice Harvey Lawrence of Ajax, Ontario, Canada and his brother Kenneth of San Diego. Bill is survived by his sister Patricia Lane of Astoria, Oregon. He is a decorated World War II veteran having served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant. Bill flew multiple combat sorties in the Halifax and Wellington bombers with the 415th Squadron (Swordfish), 6th Bomber Group (RCAF) forward stationed in England. He also flew with the U.S. Air Force Reserve During the 1950\'s. Bill retired from the County of Riverside as the Director of the Land Use Division. During his 36 years of government employment he also worked for the City of Riverside in the Engineering Department. For the past fifty-four years Bill and his wife have been members of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic church in Arlington. As an Amateur Radio Operator, Bill has been a member of the Riverside Radio Association and The 25 Year Club of Ham Radio Operators. Further he has been a member of the Riverside Historical Society, the Riverside Genealogy Society, Cub Scout Pack 110, and Boy Scout Troop 122. Bill Harvey was the epitome of The Greatest Generation who improved the lives of everyone and everything he touched. Visitation and Rosary will be held on the evening of Monday November 8th at Arlington Mortuary, 9645 Magnolia Ave. Riverside between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. of the same evening. A Catholic Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday November 9th at St. Thomas the Apostle Church 3774 Jackson St. Riverside at 11:30 a.m. Interment will also take place on November 9th at the Riverside National Cemetery, 1:30 p.m. in Staging Area #3, 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside 92518.
