Try rubbibg it out with some very fine steel wool. Once you have gotten rid of it, rub it down with linseed oil.

What Col Murph said.

If you can't feel the depth of the mark, then hopefully it's not down through the finish...just on the surface. The steel wool will leave the area dull, but the linseed will bring the luster back.

A friend of mine here in Tenn has a C V A Kentucky rifle that he has taken over 30 deer with on our muzzleloader season . I have a Tompson Center Hawken I have taken a few deer with also the last one I got at over 100yds in another friends hay field. A bunch of us old timers get together and hunt Davids farm every muzzleloader seasin.
