India accidentally fires missile into nuclear armed neighbor, Pakistan
By: War is Boring - 03-11-22 Re: https://warisboring.com/india-accide...hbor-pakistan/ New Delhi — India on Friday said it accidentally fired a missile into Pakistan and has ordered a high-level probe to investigate the matter. “On March 9, 2022, in the course of a routine maintenance, a technical malfunction led to the accidental firing of a missile,” the Defence Ministry said in a statement. “It is learnt that the missile landed in an area of Pakistan. While the incident is deeply regrettable, it is also a matter of relief that there has been no loss of life due to the accident.” “The government of India has taken a serious view and ordered a high-level court of enquiry,” it said. The response came a day after Pakistan claimed an Indian projectile had violated its airspace and lodged a strong protest over the matter. Islamabad had said the Indian-origin “supersonic flying object” entered Pakistan from India at 6:43 pm ( 1343 GMT) on March 9 and fell to the ground near Mian Chunnu city in Pakistan, causing damage to civilian property, but no one was injured. Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned the Indian envoy in Islamabad and said the incident put at risk human lives. Besides, the flight path of the object endangered several domestic and international flights and could have resulted in a serious aviation accident, it added. Nuclear-armed South Asian neighbours India and Pakistan have had hostile relations since independence from Britain in 1947 and fought three major wars, two over the Himalayan region of Kashmir. ©2022 dpa GmbH. Accident oh yea - thank God it didn't go off even by accident. They have had a few wars over their many years - sure as hell didn't need another one even just by accident! -
