Default Mariners

Would you mean people out there quit picking on the Seattle Mariners I hate to see Lew Pannalla cry . the mariners went from great to late in zero seconds flat. Now I'm talkin baseball here folks stupid moves like walking a batter to load the base's and then watching a grand salomie homerun to win the game, what sand lot did we pick this manager up at anyway? now i have to eat crow and tell andy I'm sorry about ragging on boston. But I will and I do expect tickets to the world series in boston I know you got the goods on everyone there and will call in some favors to get us tickets huh andy?

Thumbs up The Season Isn't Over Yet.

I think the Mariners will get it turned around. I'd bet on Seattle over Boston. But they sure haven't been playing with any consistency. Time will tell ...... it's a long way to September.

Thumbs up Mariners Came Back they still lead A.L. West

Pinero sure did a great job last nigh! He's going to be a great young pitcher and around for quite a few years. I believe through out baseball that pitching is much better than it was in the 50's - 80's. All these kids throw over 90 mph and some even in the high nineties. I'm amazed at how well the guys hit these powerful pitchers.

Keith

Go Mariners!!

You hit on a hot stove league topic. Todays vs yesterdays pitchers. It's an endless debate when you consider that the oldtimers tried for complete games, the young guys go for "quality starts" whatever that is. Old guys didn't have set-up, long relief, short relief and closers to help get their wins. Wasn't Rollie Fingers just about the first pithing "specialist"? Can the young pitchers throw 90+mph for 250-350 innings a year for 10 - 20 years. I think they'll burn out. Same with the hitters. They are bigger and stronger but they don't last as long either. However, they can make a lifetime supply of money in one season now. So I guess they don't have to be durable.
