You mean this page and that girl on it Fred ? http://www.milligan.edu/athletics/wsoccer.htm

She looks like a wonderful athlete ... You done good and are rightfully proud of her.

I guess we are moving away from the Mogly name ... it is mainly meg now (and "stupid"). By the way, we went to some kind of National Women's College Soccer competition at Santa Clara University last year (part of a team field trip). I do believe that we saw some Tennesse college represented, and their uniforms were the color of Milligans --- could be other Tennesse colleges use that color though. On the issue of women's college Soccer --- very, very, very talented, disciplined, smart .... etc., young women !

That's my girl. Milligan was at Santa Clara last year. Got eliminated in the first round but were rated about 12th in the nation. they are struggling this year but hope to do better in the postseason. It has been a real character builder for her. She has played since kindergarten and has been on exacly two winning teams until college. She stuck with it despite all. Athletics helps girls even more than boys in my opinion. They all have a real positive image of themselves. She even brags about her weight (150) because nobody can guess it within 20 pounds. It's all muscle and strong bones. Girls get enough overpropagandizing about looks and wieght. Athletics gives them another world and it is not commercialized like men's sports. All the old cliches still work in women's sports. I hope Meg sticks with it. There's lots of college scholarships in women's soccer.

I met a couple at my mother's church home-coming Sunday whom I hadn't seen in awhile. Their daughter is a freshman at Ole Miss. She has taken up shooting as a school sport and is very good with a .22 , pellet gun, and air rifle. She hopes to go to the Olympics some day. I may have this wrong, but I believe they said they shoot from 50 feet. The target is the size of the end of a salt shaker and the bullsye is way smaller than that. Anyway, she is now scoring nearly 1150 points out of 1200. What is really interesting is that I knew her when I taught Sunday School there years ago, and you would have never thought that she would be involved in something like this. Her father runs his own photography business and her mother is a customer service agent for the utility company here. Neither one are hunters or fisherman or exercise much for that matter. The value of her scholarship ( a full ride ) for 4 years at a public college ( Ole Miss ) will be between $ 25,000 and $ 30,000 !!! Wishing you both good luck with your daughters and their soccer careers !

Larry

Default Fred ... your daughter:

.... Then somewhere, on that field and on that day in Santa Clara, your beautifully composed daughter was in our field of view ... thats nice. She looks strong and focused in that picture. They are "heros" aren't they. Those girls sure can kick and pass the ball. My best wishes for your daughter.

.... I don't know if my girl will carry on with the game into college. But I would love it if she does. Beau

Great picture Beau! She has what my daughter calls soccer legs. These girls make fun of model legs. All it takes to have them is to puke your food up every day. Soccer legs are what girls in the peak of physical condition have. Instead of ruining their health to look malnourished they blossom into wholeness and health.

Default Thanks you both

... it's a two game Saturday tomorrow ... she's had several nights of homework up to 11:00 pm this week ... so, it's a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert tonight (escorted) and tomorrow's game ... it all balances out ...

... she is definitely not associated with the Popular "In Crowd" and skinny concious varieties ... she never played with dolls and I think she is an "old soul" who was well briefed on this world and us parents (the good and bad) before entering "this earthly plane" .... weren't we all ... Beau
