Pink Teams
I am reading a book about the 502nd and the 506th of the 101st at FSB Ripcord in 1970. They were supported by "pink teams" and "white teams." The pink team was a loach and two cobras. I haven't seen the term "pink team" before reading this book. Were they called this only in the 101st, or was it a universal term that I just haven't seen before?

I'm pretty sure the Cav had that terminology.

Never heard of them refered as
pink or white teams. We always called them hunter/killer teams. The loach would fly low and draw fire and the cobras would then spray the area. Never cared much for them, The flyboys were always to trigger happy, Have had them identify targets as much as 5 ks off and open fire on US troops. We quit alowing them to overfly our AO because of that.

I talked to a buddy of mine at work today that was in A/1/12 Cav (1968). He didn't remember them being called pink teams, but he says there were a lot of things he wasn't told.
