Default Powell Quote

Powell Quote

When in England at a fairly large conference,

Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury

if our plans for Iraq were just an example of

empire building by George Bush.

He answered by saying that, "Over the years, the

United States has sent many of its fine young men

and women into great peril to fight for freedom

beyond our borders. The only amount of land we

have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those

that did not return."

It became very quiet in the room.

I like that statement made by Powell. It cuts to the chase and its meaning is very clear.

Sid, I once saw a interview with Powell and that exact question was posed to him. His answer surprised me. He said the only reason he will not run is because his wife is afraid he will be assassinated if he did.

I always wondered why it wouldn't be possible to swap Cheeny and Powell next election ,Then the Public could get used to Powell as Veep for 4 yrs then in 2008 Powell could run for Prez and it wouldn't be a problem
