Angry Fear

11-22-2020

“The Only Thing We Have To Fear Is Fear Itself” (Franklin D. Roosevelt – 1933)!

Now isn’t it amazing that here we are, some 87 years after these now famous words were first espoused, and all of a sudden, “The Word Fear” is once again being injected into the veins of politics? (Who in the Hell do these “Politi-Fools” think that they are anyway?)

This is “The United States of America” people – and we already battled our way past the age of intimidation and threat (political, military, and personal alike)! And the only way that “FEAR” can ever again enter “Our Own National Picture Again”- is if we collectively allow it to? And knowing the temperament, the disposition, and the courage of “Our Own People”, this is never going to happen again!

And even considering the outright slander and lies (opinions) that have been levied of late by a few misguided individuals, people who (once again in my opinion) would see us transformed back into a subservient vassal of any other worldly power, or worse yet - into a carbon-copy of some totalitarian global juggernaut, it is still my personal belief (and my opinion as well, that) “This Nation of Ours” will never again allow itself to be subjugated, or even controlled, by anyone else, save for the will, the mandates, and the laws, as set forth by our own people and “That Government Of, By and For The People Themselves!”

As Such - “We the People” would never just sit back (within the law) and allow a travesty such as this, along with those who champion such tripe, to ever overtake us again!! (AND SO, IN MY OPINION, IT IS!)

Exclamation The Causes and Consequences of Fear in America

The Causes and Consequences of Fear in America
By: Christopher Bader - Joseph Baker - L Edward & Ann Gordon
Re: https://www.chapman.edu/wilkinson/re...can-fears.aspx

Published by: NYU Press for Chapman University

An antidote to the culture of fear that dominates modern life

From moral panics about immigration and gun control to anxiety about terrorism and natural disasters, Americans live in a culture of fear. While fear is typically discussed in emotional or poetic terms—as the opposite of courage, or as an obstacle to be overcome—it nevertheless has very real consequences in everyday life. Persistent fear negatively effects individuals’ decision-making abilities and causes anxiety, depression, and poor physical health. Further, fear harms communities and society by corroding social trust and civic engagement. Yet politicians often effectively leverage fears to garner votes and companies routinely market unnecessary products that promise protection from imagined or exaggerated harms.

Drawing on five years of data from the Chapman Survey of American Fears—which canvasses a random, national sample of adults about a broad range of fears—Fear Itself offers new insights into what people are afraid of and how fear affects their lives. The authors also draw on participant observation with Doomsday preppers and conspiracy theorists to provide fascinating narratives about subcultures of fear.

Fear Itself is a novel, wide-ranging study of the social consequences of fear, ultimately suggesting that there is good reason to be afraid of fear itself.

Praise for Fear Itself:

"Those of us who study fear have long been grateful for the Chapman University Survey of American Fears. In this important book, the scholars behind that survey examine their data and provide invaluable insights into what Americans fear and the effects of those fears."

Barry Glassner, author of The Culture of Fear: Why Americans Are Afraid of the Wrong Things

"A careful, well-reasoned, and convincing study of fear in contemporary American society."
Steve Pfaff, University of Washington

America's Top Fears 2019
By: Shreya Sheth, Henley Research Fellow, Chapman University

The Chapman University Survey of American Fears Wave 6 (2019) provides an in-depth
examination into the fears of average Americans. In July of 2019, a random sample of 1,219 adults
from across the United States were asked their level of fear about eighty-eight different
phenomena including crime, the government, the environment, disasters, personal anxieties,
technology, and many others.
Top 10 Fears of 2019

Below is a list of the 10 fears for which the highest percentage of Americans reported being
"Afraid," or "Very Afraid."

Top Ten Fears of 2019 % Afraid or Very Afraid
-
1. Corrupt government officials 77.2
2. Pollution of oceans, rivers and lakes 68
3. People I love becoming seriously ill 66.7
4. Pollution of drinking water 64.6
5. People I love dying 62.9
6. Air pollution 59.5
7. Cyber-terrorism 59.2
8. Extinction of plant and animal species 59.1
9. Global Warming and Climate Change 57.1
10. Not having enough money for the future 55.7
Government Corruption Tops the List Once Again

For the fifth year in a row the top fear of Americans is corrupt government officials. And as in the previous five years, the fear that our government is corrupt far exceeds all others we asked about.

More than 3/4 of Americans said they are afraid or very afraid of corrupt governmental officials in 2019. By comparison, the next highest level of fear was nearly 10 points lower at 68% (pollution of oceans, rivers and lakes).

Government corruption aside, our top ten list suggests that Americans are preoccupied by fears of four different types. (Note: Print out the link below for specifics - Boats)

a. Americans fear for the environment (#s 2, 4, 6, 8, & 9),

b. Fear devastating cybercrime (#7),

c. Fear bad things happening to loved ones (#s 3 & 5), and worry about their finances (#s 3 & 10).

d. High levels of fear of loved one's becoming ill (#5) and high medical bills (#10) also indicate that health care remains a primary concern of Americans.

Personal Note:

It's a great American outline of U.S. Fear(s) it cover's the key majority issues that American's fear the most - if you have time read it - I did and yes they are spot on.
