I'm Back!
Well.. I'm back! I want to thank all of you for your good wishes, prayers and all those positive thoughts for my disability hearing.
It went very very well. There were 3 cases heard that day. I was the 2nd. We had the opportunity to sit in on the 1st one also which gave us some idea of what to expect. Anyone going to this kind of thing without a lawyer is dog food! They made mincemeat of the appellent. Poor guy.. I felt so sorry for the guy.My hearing started around 10:30 am. Broke for lunch around 12ish for an hour. Then it continued until about 3:45. eekk but I was tired after! The 3 Justices were very personable and easy to talk to. The setting was in a room but the protocal was the same as court. 'All Rise, etc' and witnesses were sworn in. 1st time I ever had to do that! So I told em what transpired from 1992 on. They asked questions. I answered. The Crown then cross examined me. Then it was the Crowns turn to call witnesses. They called a doctor who is a paid expert of the Government. Then my 6'6" lawyer cross examined her. It was brought out that she had never examined me. That the last doctor who saw me was in fact the highest 'expert' who examined me. And that he was also the one who said I could no longer work. We got our points across clearly and simply. By Federal law, the Board (the 3 Justices) must each make a decsion with written reasons etc. The majority of those will rule. As the wheels of justice turn slowly.. it will most likely be 2 - 3 months to hear anything. But, both my lawyer and I walked away with a good feeling. So now I wait. After waiting since August of 2000, another 2 or 3 months is not long! Now I just 'shelve' the whole thing and prepare for my next court hearing... the ugly bugly one vs the X. Again.. thank you for being here for me. I appreciate each and every one of you. Susan |
