Smile I went "White Water" rafting.

I took four Jr Hi kids rafting on the Yakima River today. I am just plain worn out. All them come from some pretty unstable homes. Two girls and Two boys. Great kids who need somebody to just show them a little attention.
I had dyslectic oarsmen with (the kids) me. I'd shout row and some of the kids would be rowing backwards. It was a riot.
Fortunately the Yakima is only rated a 1.5 as a white water river. We did hit some brush but for the most part it all went well. My arms and shoulders are aching.
I'd never take that crew on the Wenatchee river just North of Ellensburg. Its rated a 5 and one of the most difficult rivers in the world to kayak or raft. They have several rapids on the Wenatchee that have never been successfully run.

Over all it was a great day. Didn't get in any fly fishing to busy rowing.

However, this 58 yr old body just isn't what it use to be.

Keith

Default White water-- ing

That has to be one of the best thing anyone can do, Out with nature, being pushed along on a very unforgiving media and at the end you feel you have accomplished something.

I did it once and enjoyed it but have no desire to do it again.

How bout a Psycovet Whitewater Rafting Tour??
My vote: the Rogue River in OR. Or the Colorado River
We go tubing down Butte Creek with truck tubes up by Chico, it's lotsa fun

Talking James

You come to Ellensburg and we'll go rafting and fly fishing all at the same time.

Been trying to Chris and Joan over for a trip but to no avail.

Keith

P.S. No one takes me up on the offer. Afraid I'll baptize them in the process.

Default Going on the 19th

The wife and I are rafting the olympic white water course on the 19th, we have done it prior to the olympics and did the deliverence river a couple of years ago. I'm in for a psyco raft trip, LT and I have made a commitment to go to washington a year from August to visit you guys, so if you set it up I'll commit for my brother and me. Not sure about LT but we will see, the last time I got him on a raft he was complaining about turning blue and hypothermia and stuff, I just told him to paddle harder.

Default James

Look at where the Samon and Snake river meet in Idaho.
I went down the Samon river for 5 days on a raft through some of the toughest white water in US,
It coast around $300. per person for the 5 days, But that includes a "Slave" to row and food and drink, And you get to pick the food and drink that he brings. It was so great. No one even brought a watch along, Get hungry--- eat, get tierd---sleep pretty simple if you ask me.

Default The Oconee river

In Tennessee and Georgia, This is the olympic white water run, The guide in the back is our second one, the first was thrown from the boat and dislocated his shoulder. We got the raft to shore and had to carry him up to a road so he could be taken to a hospital.

The barely visible person in the front is MS. PHO. AKA Lori.
