6,500 windows and the heighth, but now in a " war zone " are they ?

Just seen it on Marvalous Marvels on History Chennel TV building the Empire State Building, but they didnt give a reason.

It was a medifore, Because the bomber crashed into the building, and some lady told the owner of the building that Japan was bombing the building.
No combat pay for window washers.

B-25 Bomber Hits 78th Floor of the Empire State building, July 28, 1945 : Picture of the damage from the outside.

Notice the "Buy War Bonds" sign on the roof of a nearby building.

Dave I never saw this picture - thanks. I recall my parents talking about it but I really never saw any pictures of it. Was it foggy or just lack of instrumentation that caused this incident?

Not being handicapped by any of the facts, my guess is that the high up window washers are in some kind of Labor Union and get a pay differential for the additional hazards as opposed to Union personnel that work at ground level or just a few levels up. The term ?combat pay? probably has historic roots and is a metaphor as Ron suggests but the differential is just called ?combat pay?.

Aside from that, I learned a long while back that the History Channel uses contractors for creating their programming and some are very good and do a professional job while others scarcely bother with facts or professional research or are simply driving some agenda.
Ha, ha, in the series ?Vietnam, the 10,000 Day War? I saw myself doing something I never did, what a hoot. But then that deal was put together by Peter Arnett so it was just an agenda driven bunch of levered stuff at best and out and out deceptive at worst.
