$.03 postage, went to $.04. Airmail was $.07 which could be depended on delivery in 3 or 4 days. $.29 a gal. gas and when you pulled in to the station they checked your oil and cleaned your windshield, if you filled it up they cleaned all of your windows. $.25 quart of milk at the machine down the street but you didn't do that unless you didn't have a milkman.
$.75 an hour minimum wage if your employer didn't do business in another state, $.90 if he did. The companies raised Hell when it went to a buck an hour. My dad was pissed at me when I came home with a paycheck over a hundred. He was a tool and die maker and didn't make that much unless he worked a lot of overtime. I couldn't believe I made that much but gave Mom half of that check for room and board.
