1. In 1976 one certain color disappeared from M&Ms candies.
This color was brought back to M&Ms in 1987.
What was the color and why was it eliminated for 11 years?

Answer: Red
Reason: There was a big flap over the possible danger of food coloring dyes at that time, especially red food dye. Although M&Ms didnt use the harmful red dye, the company decided to eliminate the color to avoid any potential controversy.

The "official" explanation by the Curtiss Candy Company is that the Baby Ruth bar was named after Grover Cleveland's daughter Ruth.

However...

Ruth Cleveland died of diphtheria in 1904, years before the founder of the company emmigrated here from Germany, 12 years before the company was founded, and over seventeen years before the "Baby Ruth" bar was first produced. Naming a candy bar after the long-dead daughter of a former president would certainly be a curious choice. Moreover, the notion that a candy bar called "Baby Ruth" should appear on the market just when a baseball player named Babe Ruth had suddenly become the most famous person in America is perceived as a rather striking coincidence.

You be the judge.
