Art Linkletter hosted a programcalled "Kids Say the Darnest Things". I think it started out on radio and then went to TV. Bill Crosby brought it back a few years ago with him as the host and with occassional clipsfrom the original Art Linkletter show.

For those of you who never saw or heard the show, it was an interview show that asked very young children questions about anything imaginable.

Once, a 5 yr old tike was askedbyLinkletter if he knew what Easterwas all about. The kid said: "Sure, thats when Jesus comes out of a cave ....and if he sees his shadow its gonna stay cold a long time"

Hey, ya gotta give the kid credit for getting it half right, I wonder how many 5 yr oldkids today would knoweven that much about it.

Got another one... Right upphilly's alley..... WGN's "Bozo the clown".

We lived in the Chicago area when the oringinal Bozo was in his Heyday. The waiting time to get tickets for his show ran, attimes, seven years. People would apply for tickets when thier children were born, so they could get on the show before they were too old.

I'm still waitin'. Any votes for worst shows? I never watched TV much, being from a family of 11 kids, I found it better to escape out the door. But once I do remember seeing a show that had marionetts on a spaceship. It really weirded me out. My brothers thought it was way cool.

"My Mother, The Car" was not too great a show.

The cops Toody & Muldoon on - "Car 54 - Where Are You?" was, I believe, Fred Gwynn's (Muldoon) first TV program.

Does anyone remember a show called, "It's a Great Life?" It was on back in the 50s. I can't remember the two guys who were the stars. :cd:

I recall a commercial on "Mr. Peepers" (Wally Cox) in which Rex Marshall was hawking instant coffee - Maxwell House, I believe - and the clear glass coffee cup he was holding in his hand broke when the boiling water was poured into it. Ahhhhhh - live TV. Nuttin' like it!

Ken,

I didn't watch too many of Bozo's shows. However, I grew up to be a professional clown. Yes, on my weekends, I entertain wonderful and sometimes bratty kids. LOL!! I don't think I'd ever make it on TV, but it sure is fun being a part time clown.

Jane,

You have great wit. Your family must have been funnier than heck. I think TV can be over rated. I mean, many kids today are jipped because they watch so much TV. They are missing out on using their imaginations. I'm sure, for you, coming from a big family, you guys probably made up your own games, camp outs, and more.

It's been enjoyable reading everyone's commentaries. It floods my mind with great memories.

Be happy,

Philly

Ahh yes; Art Linkletter. I was watching once when he asked a little kid how old he was. The kid held up 4 fingers. Art asked the kid what his daddy did for a living. The dad was a traveling salesman. Art says, "Oh my, you must get scared when daddy isn't home at night." The kid replies, "No, Uncle John comes over. He sleeps with mama." Of course, this was a live program. The tv went blank for a minute.

Chili,

Wow! I think his parents were destined for a divorce. LOL!! I wonder what happened to good old "Uncle" John.

Thank Ken!

I saw a couple Pufn Stuff videos for sale. I loved that show.

My two boys have never seen the show. They're probably too old to enjoy them now, however, I may just buy one to show my nieces and nephews.

Thanks for sharing this site with us.
